OpenLogic Apache Tomcat LTS
Apache Tomcat is an open-source Java Servlet and JSP container implementing Jakarta or Java EE specifications (Servlet, JSP, WebSocket, EL). The topics in this section provide instructions for managing Apache Tomcat under OpenLogic’s Long-Term Support (LTS) service.
Core components
-
Catalina – Servlet Engine
-
Coyote – HTTP Connector
-
Jasper – JSP Compiler
Typical deployments include standalone servers, embedded runtimes (for example: Spring Boot), and clustered environments.
Service features
With the EOL of the community-maintained Apache Tomcat, OpenLogic took private ownership of the community-maintained releases: 8.5.100.
OpenLogic then set up this release under a version control system and CI/CD configuration to build, secure, and test new internally developed updates and patches of post-EOL Apache Tomcat.
OpenLogic’s Tomcat Long-Term Support provides internally maintained versions of post-EOL Tomcat. It includes the Apache Tomcat for core modules receiving patches for medium and high-severity vulnerabilities.
The newly patched, built, and tested versions of Tomcat are made available to customers in a private repository.
For support needs on non-core modules, contact your OpenLogic Account Executive.
